Born in Jackson, Miss., Rimes released her first album (“Blue”) in 1996, which reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified multi-platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. Given her vocal style, she was immediately compared to famed country singer Patsy Cline.
Since her debut 18 years ago, Rimes has won many awards including two Grammys, three ACM’s, a CMA, 12 Billboard Music Awards and one American Music Award. She has sold more than 37 million records worldwide and has totaled 20 million album sales in the United States.
Rimes’ most recent album, “Spitfire,” was released in the United States last June. More than 10,000 copies were sold in its first week of distribution and the album debuted at #36 on the Billboard 200 chart.
