This Saturday, April 5 | 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Community Maritime Park
For a morning of opera in the fresh air, join us this Saturday, April 5 starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Community Maritime Park as we celebrate Opera in the Park! Performances by our Artists in Residence of the educational children’s opera Little Red’s Most Unusual Day will be performed twice, at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., in the amphitheater. The day’s other activities will include arts and crafts, a La Boheme story time at 10:45 a.m., and fun activities designed for kids and families. Please join us for this great day of fun for kids of all ages!

Participating vendors include Cat Country 98.7, Pensacola MESS Hall, Pensacola

Humane Society, the Community Drug and Alcohol Council, and the Pensacola Museum of Art.

Saturday, April 5 | 11:55 a.m. at Bayou 15 Theater
After you’ve attended Opera in the Park, you can join Pensacola Opera lovers at the Bayou Cinema 15 for Puccini’s La Boheme. La Boheme is a moving story of young love and is the most performed opera in Met history. Anita Hartig stars as the frail Mimì in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production, with Vittorio Grigolo as her passionate lover, Rodolfo. Go see this wonderful production of the beloved classic that will be performed at Pensacola Opera in January 2015! Tickets are $25 each.

Saturday, April 12 | 6:30 p.m. at New World Landing

You are invited to celebrate with us! Our annual Operazzi Ball is next Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at New World Landing. The theme of this year’s Ball is A Royal Affair, in celebration of Pensacola Opera’s 31st season and March production of Cinderella. The evening will include an elegant sit-down dinner, dancing to music by The Don Snowden Big Band with Holly Shelton, and special performances by Pensacola Opera’s 2014 Artists in Residence. Dress is black-tie and complimentary wine and champagne will be served throughout the evening. Fabulous items and travel experiences will be featured in live and silent auctions.

This year’s Operazzi Ball Honorary Chairs are Brad and Diane Peterson and the Chairs are Eloise de Varona and Karen Emmons. All proceeds from this event will support the Opera’s many artistic and education initiatives, from professional mainstage productions to nationally recognized education and community outreach programs that serve over 40,000 people each year.

Ready for more live opera? Great news! You don’t have to wait long. In just a weeks, Pensacola Opera will present W.A. Mozart’s Così fan tutte as its 2014 Artists in Residence Showcase at the Pensacola Opera Center on Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. This condensed version of Così fan tutte will be performed in an intimate, black box theater setting with musical direction by Artist in Residence, Nick Place. As a fun twist, Director A. Scott Parry has set the opera circa 1986 in Naples, Florida. The Artists in Residence Showcase is a fantastic way to indulge your interest in opera beyond
the mainstage, so don’t miss this innovative opera experience!
