Where are you based out of?
I am based out of Palm City, Florida
What first attracted you to photography?
Growing up, I was always the one given the camera to take family shots. Later, I discovered the relationship of light on my surroundings – primarily nature and historical locations in Michigan.
Favorite style or subject to shoot?
I’m still drawn to the landscape, not just for its historical significance, but for its unique beauty. Spacial patterns and textures enhance the beauty of each geographical region I’ve visited.
Favorite piece of equipment?
I always take three cameras with me when out shooting. A 35mm and 6×7 medium format film cameras, along with my digital camera. I will use at least two of them wherever I shoot. I haven’t been in the panhandle in quite some time. I’m sure I’ll find some interesting subject matter on my trips there during my exhibit.
What do you feel is the benefit of film over digital?
Film gives you a more natural feel of your subject matter. Digital tends to show more than the naked eye can actually see.
Any advice for others who are interested in photography?
If you’re just starting in photography, pick up a film camera first. They’re very inexpensive now. Teach yourself how to “paint with light” by understanding the relationship of the aperture and shutter speed.
