Radio Profile: The Dirty South Network
We love doing the Radio Profile series – because they are often on the front lines of supporting underground music.
When did the station form?
We formed first on Youtube in November of 2011 . We started The Dirty South Network Podcasting on March 30, 2012 . On the website http://www.aircheck.us/show/916 Within a month, we were in the Top 10 most listened to Podcasts and the Number 1 most listened to Network. We currently have over 157 episodes of multi-formatted shows on that site, FREE on demand.
What is the primary goal or mission statement?
We jokingly say that we want to be the dominating force in the online radio world, but really all we want is to do radio like it use to be done on a multi-format level – hopefully to have something for everyone, in one spot . Entertainment, informative interviews, sports, rock, pop, hip-hop , talk, 80’s retro, and yes, even a sex advice show (Coming Soon) . Most of all, we let our professional talent produce, say, and do, whatever they want on their shows. We have NO Commercials and NO Clients dictating what we do or play!
What types of music or shows are featured?
We have several muti-formatted shows from an 80’s retro show to a 2 hour house and techno show, plus everything in between Like a top 10 countdown every weekend. Not your boring Billboard songs of the week countdown one that is filled with ONLY the best artist and music from the past 6 decades… Such as the top 10 best artists of all time and other great countdowns all packed with interviews, tidbits of info on your favorite artists, musical hit montages, along with your chance to win FREE STUFF and so much more.
Are you open to submissions? What is the submission process?
As of March 8, 2014 we have the following positions open :
- Entertaining 1 or 2 hour Rock Show : Mainly songs from early 90’s to mid 2005
- Entertaining 1or 2 Country Music Show: Heavy on songs from early 90’s to 2010 , maybe some newer and older mixed in
- Entertaining 1 hour Sports Talk Show
- Entertaining 1 or 2 hour 2 or more on air jocks Entertainment or Music show
- Entertaining 1 Female “Sex-Pert” or Clinical expert. Must be funny, quick response and take questions from listeners , and give educated answers. (or at least funny ones)
- Bad ass Club DJ’s that can Mix great beats back to back! From Old School to New School we wanna hear your stuff! Please send demo at least 15-30min mix.
