Exploring Entertainment in Florida's 850 & Beyond

EyeHateGod Official Statement

All music starts when someone is in awe of someone else.  You fall in love with a sound, an idea, a song, even an entire band – and that is the seeds of inspiration to create something.

As a fan of music, when we find something we love it’s interesting to trace it backwards to their inspiration.  It is to respect the musicians that stepped outside what was known, what was safe, as they created something raw and powerful.

When it comes to sludge, crust, doom, and a ton of other sub-genres of metal EYEHATEGOD is placed high on that list.  Since their inception 25 years ago, they have helped pioneer a style of music – providing inspiration for countless bands.

This week, they lost Joey LaCaze – drummer and founding member.  The metal community lost a unique talent, the band lost their brother, and a little one lost her daddy.

Joseph M. LaCaze, New Orleans native and drummer for EyeHateGod, Mystick Krewe of Clearlight and Outlaw Order passed away on Aug. 23rd in New Orleans after a very successful five week UK and European tour w/ EHG.

He also performed ceremonial voodoo drumming and in numerous solo experimental electronic projects.

Doctors confirmed to family members the cause as respiratory failure. He also suffered from severe long term asthma.

An account is set up for the benefit of his daughter Lilith LaCaze. Checks can be made payable to the Lilith LaCaze or Joseph LaCaze donation fund at any Capital One Bank in any city.
