Exploring Entertainment in Florida's 850 & Beyond

Review: Joshua Adam’s Band

Last week I had the pleasure of seeing the Joshua Adam’s Band.   Last fall I stumbled on this group, and had wanted to see them – but it just didn’t work out.  So I was happy when I found out they were coming back through this Spring.

This year they will be bouncing around a nice chunk of the 850 so make sure you check out their tour dates to see them in action. www.reverbnation.com/#!/joshuaadams or visit their official site at: www.joshuaadamsmusic.com/  – That means you Tallahassee, Ft Walton, Pensacola, and Panama City Beach!  They will be making stops through all of these locations and more over the course of 2011’s Spring and Summer.

These guys are fun to see, a lot of energy and  great cover choices with original songs mixed in.  Their were some fun surprises of the night, like each guitar player taking center stage for a song, and the set list was pretty broad.  From Muse, a great mash up of Sweet Dreams and Seven Nation Army, pop songs with a rock twist, and two Nine Inch Nail songs; the song choices were a bit all over the place, but it worked.

I grabbed a CD – and everyone signed it for us – which is always a nice touch.  The CD is only 5 tracks long, but they only charged $5 for it.   It does play a bit like a demo CD; the style really jumps around from track to track.  But the songs themselves hold up to multiple listens, and it is easy to see these guys getting swooped up by a record label and getting radio airplay.  A couple of the tunes are extremely catchy, with well built hooks that are truly as solid as songs that are currently on the radio.  You can hear the songs yourself by following either link above…

I took 3 videos – and the audio is sucky.  Yeah, I said it – the audio quality blows.  Which I feel bad for because the audio quality is in no way a reflection of the quality of the band’s sound.  However, the videos are fun to watch because you get a great feel for the band’s chemistry and stage presence.  So with that whopping disclaimer in place, here are three videos from the show.

Final Notes:  These are a talented group of guys.   Their original material is great.  Great fun and sound really strong.   Maybe I need to put that signed CD in a safe place – it could be worth something someday soon.
