Indie dance duo Matt and Kim who bring their high energy live show to headline Vinyl Music Hall on February 14. The Brooklyn duo are known for infectious beat-driven anthems and explosive live shows and they are bringing dance-ready hits from their back catalog and songs from their newest album ALMOST EVERYDAY to the stage on their winter tour.
Matt (Johnson, keys) and Kim (Schifino, drums) have been releasing albums and touring together since meeting as art students in college.Their newest album ALMOST EVERYDAY (FADER Label) was written during Kim’s extensive recovery after an onstage injury sidelined the band for a year. It was the longest that this tour loving duo had ever been off the road and they used that time to create one of their most personal albums to date. For the first time ever, friends contributed to the album, guest vocalists include Mark Hoppus (blink-182), Kevin Morby, Santigold, SWMRS, Flosstradamus, King Tuff and more. To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their sophomore album GRAND, Matt and Kim just released the album on limited edition vinyl. Recorde by the duo in Matt’s childhood home in VT, lead album track “Daylight” is certified RIAA platinum and the music video for album track “Lessons Learned” featured the daring duo stripping in NYC’s Times Square, and won the Breakthrough Video Award at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
In addition to multiple successful album releases, Matt and Kim have become the go-to live band for raw exuberance and dance-ready anthems. They won the mtvU Woodie Award for “Best Live Performance”, have performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sold-out headlining tours across North America, stole the show at multiple festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Bumbershoot and wowed fans around the globe.
