Escape to Create Continues in February with 2nd Round of Internationally Acclaimed Artists

Seaside, Florida’s nationally acclaimed arts residency, Escape to Create, continues with fresh talent arriving from around the world in the month of February. Very special artist performances at The REP Theatre throughout the month to include the 5th annual “Valentine to 30A” concert with two time Grammy nominee, Kim Richey.

In the world of classical and jazz music composition, pianist and vocal artist Anthony R. Green is hailed as a visionary artist with a strong social conscience.  His awarded works have been presented in over twenty countries and he has performed across the U.S. and Europe. Green is dedicated to advancing the rich contributions of Black composers to classical music in America.  He is co-founder of Castle Of Our Skins, a Boston based concert and education non-profit dedicated to celebrating Black artistry through music. Green will perform an intimate program of music and songs of great African American artists from Joplin to Bates, including jazz, ragtime and blues, to his own works at The REP Theatre on Thursday, February 8th at 7:30pm.

Nashville singer-songwriter Kim Richey captivating lyrics and purity of voice have garnered two Grammy nominations and produced numerous chart-topping songs.  Her gift for writing intimate songs that grab the truth and tug the heart has made her a favorite of industry critics and top-tier mainstream musicians like Trisha Yearwood, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Shawn Colvin. Richie’s performance on February 13th, 7:30pm at The REP Theatre will introduce new songs and revisit favorites in Escape to Create’s fifth annual Valentine to 30A concert.

Awarded throughout Europe and the UK for her transformational theatre and opera set designs, Ana Ines Jabares-Pita unveils her multi-faceted artistic vision in an immersive interactive installation encompassing augmented reality, art, sound experiment, music, theatre and cell phone technology. Awarded U.S. citizen poet and word artist Sam Taylor reads from his critically praised lyric and experimental collections that forge deep connection within the mind, body and spirit while addressing urgent issues of our times. Thursday, February 22nd, 7:30pm at The REP.

Brooklyn-based writer/director Kevin Doyle’s arresting multimedia plays fuse cutting edge dance, film, music, live-camera usage, and found text sources to tackle large contemporary social issues and public policy. The internationally awarded author of a dozen plays, Doyle was recently named a 2017-18 Global Cultural Fellow by the Institute for International Cultural Relations at the University of Edinburg. On Tuesday, February 27th at 7:30pm, The REP Theatre will give a dramatic script-in-hand reading of Doyle’s newest work, a contemporary drama inspired by the viral photo of an albatross starved to death after ingesting multiple plastic items near the Pacific atoll.
