If you know us in any way, shape, or form – you know we like metal music. The thing is, sometimes metal can take itself a little too seriously. So to balance out the heavy music world it’s been gifted with Psychostick – a damn heavy band that does everything but take themselves too seriously.
Whether they are parodying a song that we all know the words do (their take on Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies’ must be heard by everyone) poking fun at the general populace (‘Sadface Emoticon’ might be your theme song) or are just sharing their devotion for adult beverages (everyone has heard ‘Beer’, right?) – this band kills.
But wait! There is more!
On September 4th their new tour with One-Eyed Doll is making its way to Club L.A. in Destin. That’s right. They are coming right here – and you need to be there. (Get tickets. Now.)
PSYCHOSTICK Announce The Blood, Guts, and Sprinkles Tour; Cover ‘Reading Rainbow’ Theme Song; New Video ‘Obey The Beard’
Wrapping up their ‘Merica F*ck Yeah Tour’ this week w/ Dog Fashion Disco and The Bunny The Bear, Psychostick are taking a break in July to reboot and get back on the road for a three week ‘The Blood, Guts, and Sprinkles Tour’ in August w/ One Eyed Doll and Wild Throne. The band will be premiering upcoming material on the tour from their forthcoming fan funded album to follow up 2011’s comedic adventure ‘Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3-D’.
Guitarist Josh ‘The J’ Key explains:
“The fan-funded studio we finished building is working out better than cheese on a nacho! We’ve been recording our new album, which we feel tops our last release (Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3-D), so we have some new songs that we’ve been dying to play for people. We have still have many hands to shake and people to thank for donating to our successful Indiegogo campaign for our new recording studio / album.”
Most high school friends can’t even stand to look at each other once school’s out, but in the case of vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key, they decided to spend even more time together after graduation.
Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, they joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.
Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed would be proud of and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.
With two full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title” and “Sandwich” – the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.
