Getting to Know Abigail Rose
We had the chance to get to know Abigail Rose – a young songstress who will be hitting the stage at the Panama City Beach Seafood & Music Festival.
When did you first start singing?
I always loved singing and making up songs when I was little, but when I realized I wanted to be a performed was when I started taking guitar lessons and writing songs when I was 11.
What did your family do to encourage you?
Well my parents bought me my first guitar for my 11th birthday, but they have always supported me and encouraged my love for music. My brother and sister have always been there for me too! I’m so blessed to have my family’s support; I couldn’t do this without them!
Do you enjoy writing music and lyrics? Favorite song to date?
I love it! I write every day! I usually have 4-5 co-writes each week, but I am always writing down ideas and lyrics at the most random times!

Do you feel it is important for a musician to evolve over time?
Yes, I do! I definitely sound, look and act differently than when I started out. My style is constantly evolving and will continue to because of all the different influences I have.
Where would you most like to perform?
Well, in Nashville, it would be at the Ryman or the Opry because I have grown up going to shows at those venues. It would be such an honor to get to play there because so many amazing artists that I look up to have performed there!
Who would you most like to open for?
John Mayer or Sheryl Crow
Have you ever been star-struck?
Yes! I grew up listening to Gretchen Wilson, so when I saw her at a Nashville party, I basically couldn’t move. But then I got the nerve up to go talk to her and I am so happy I did.
Upcoming shows or music?
I am performing at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, GA with Stevie Monce on October 27th and I’m opening for Jake Owen on October 29th in Nashville! I have an EP coming out with 5 of my songs! It will be released mid-November, and will be available on iTunes and at my shows!
