COMICS, COSTUMES AND FAMILY FUN FOR FREE AT CREATIVE CON
By Jayson Kretzer
Bay County Public Library presents the 4th Annual Creative Con on August 24th, 2013 from 10am to 4pm in Panama City.
This year’s Creative Con will feature more than twenty creative professionals with the type of one-on-one interactions that are difficult to get at the larger Conventions and…it’s all Free.
Our guest of honor this year is Internationally recognized artist Sergio Cariello. Since 1992, Sergio has done comic book work for Caliber, Mavel, DC, Dark Horse, Idea and Design Works, Todd McFarlane Productions, Image, Disney, Crossegen, Dynamite and many others. He is the illustrator for one of the Top Bestsellers at Christian Book Expo, the “Action Bible” where among the 750 plus pages of art, you’ll find his “attention-holding illustrations marked by rich coloring, dramatic shading and lighting, bold and energetic designs, and emotionally charged figures”.
Also on display during Creative Con will be “One Fine Sunday in the Funny Pages”, an exhibition of cartoon art which features the original art of over 100 different syndicated comic strips that were all published in newspapers on the same Sunday!
In addition to our guests, we will also have a costume contest with prizes, activities for the kid’s and informative panels from our guest speakers.
Thanks to the continued support of the Bay County Public Library, News 13 and the local comic shops of Bay County, this event continues to be offered FREE to the public.
About Creative Con:
Creative Con was founded four years ago by Jayson Kretzer, Chris Arrant & Bettina Mead with the hope that the event would help the community to accept and appreciate sequential art as not only an art form but also a powerful storytelling tool which can be used for both educational & entertainment purposes. The show has continued to grow each year and what started out as just a few local artists doing sketches in the foyer of the beautiful Bay County Public Library has transformed into a family friendly creative festival complete with an original comic strip art exhibition on the walls.
