Pensacon welcomes the stars of ‘The Suicide Squad’ for 2022 convention
With the new film “The Suicide Squad” opening to glowing reviews from both critics (96 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) and fans, Pensacon is thrilled to welcome three of the film’s stars for its 2022 pop-culture convention, taking place Feb. 18-20 in downtown Pensacola.
Joining Pensacon’s stellar guest list are:
- Michael Rooker, who stars as Savant in “The Suicide Squad.” Rooker is one of the most beloved and active character actors, also known for his roles as Yondu in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, Merle on “The Walking Dead,” and for his work in films as varied as “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer,” “F9,” “Mallrats,” “Cliffhanger,” “Days of Thunder,” “JFK,” “Tombstone,” “Eight Men Out” and “Mississippi Burning.”
- Sean Gunn, who stars as Weasel (and also has a cameo without motion capture). Sean appears in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films in a similar dual role as the motion capture actor for Rocket Raccoon (a role he also played in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”) and as Kraglin, Yondu’s right-hand man. Sean is also well known for his long-running role as Kirk on the hit series, “Gilmore Girls.”
- Steve Agee, who performs the motion capture for breakout character King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone) as well as appearing on-screen as John Economos, part of the Squad’s support staff. Agee will be reprising his role as Economos in the forthcoming “Peacemaker” series on HBO Max, spinning off from “The Suicide Squad.” A celebrated stand-up comic, Agee is also well known for roles in shows such as “The Sarah Silverman Program,” “New Girl” and “Superstore.”
The three stars of “The Suicide Squad” join a stellar Pensacon 2022 guest lineup that includes Dylan McDermott (“Amercian Horror Story,” “The Practice,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime”); David Bradley (the “Harry Potter” film series, “Game of Thrones,” “Doctor Who”); Ryan Hurst (“Sons of Anarchy,” “The Walking Dead,” “Bates Motel”); Andrew Robinson (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Hellraiser,” “Dirty Harry”); WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley; “Supernatural” stars Kim Rhodes, Samantha Smith and Briana Buckmaster; original “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” stars Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost; and dozens more, with additional guests remaining to be announced. Pensacon is the Gulf Coast’s premier pop culture convention celebrating the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, horror, comic books, cosplay, animation, video games, books and much, much more.
