STINGERS COMEDY PRESENTS: KILLING CANCER WITH COMEDY-A Night of Hilarity and Hope–

My name is Emily Dillon. I am a local insurance agent, a founder of Stingers Comedy, and a stand-up comedian here in Pensacola. On September 2, 2016, my joke making ability was presented with its greatest challenge. I was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia) a rare blood cancer that to date is manageable but incurable. That night, after I informed my family and my children of my diagnosis, I went straight to an open mic night to make jokes-it was the only way I could cope with the news. I had to laugh, or I would cry. That day I decided I would start Killing Cancer With Comedy.
Cancer is the bully on the playground that is three times your size. He’s GOING TO beat you up, but you don’t have to let him beat you down. That’s the heart of KCWC—Laughing in the face of a bully. Turning the pain into power.
My partners with Stingers Comedy, the adequately funny Compton Smith, and the reasonably humorous Gale “MzUndastood” Fluker, along with the absolutely hilarious Jeff “D” Derouen from New Orleans, and the often unpredictable ladies of Improvable Cause have a night of Hope and Hilarity prepared for you. A large portion of the proceeds will be donated to Rally Pensacola’s Family Emergency Fund-to help local families of children with cancer to pay the bills while they focus on their child’s healing. We will also be donating to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society to fund blood cancer research.
