A Personal Anecdote about Scott Weiland

We all have them: Songs that become a pivotal part of our story. Albums that serve as placeholders for spans of our lives. Artists that we relate to on some core level.

I’ve been lucky to have many perfect moments in my life. Moments of seeing and hearing performers that mean the world to me. I am endlessly grateful to the many who played a role in letting me photograph people that have been my inspiration through life.  The people who provided the soundtrack through triumph and heartbreak – the music that was always there without judgment, waiting with open arms.

Although my tastes are pretty far-reaching, few have left their mark on my life the way Scott Weiland has. Put simply, I’m not sure I’d be here today without having connected to his music. I was 15 when I found a solace through his lyrics that I so desperately needed.

I am grateful to have seen him twice during his days with Stone Temple Pilots, but the fact that he is coming to my corner of the world is inexplicable. Every few days it hits me that it is real. Weiland will be stepping onto the stage at Club LA – a place that feels like my home away from home. And there isn’t a way to express the momentous nature of that for me.

I’ll put it this way, when the concert was officially announced I could have given Kristen Bell’s viral sloth video a run for it’s money.

I’m not a 100% sure why I have the utter need to post this here – other than to say that I hope every person out there is lucky enough to find that magic buzz that I’ve found through Weiland’s music. That ever person tries their best to seek out new experiences and just give everyone a fighting chance to win you over.  That the most meaningful experiences can originate from the most unexpected moments.

Cross your fingers for me that I get cleared to photograph the Destin show- and know either way you’ll find me on the front row, grinning from ear to ear.
