Violent Femmes Spring Tour 2025

It’s been a while since I last saw Violent Femmes live – back at Springfest in Pensacola in the late ’90s. So, I was super stoked to catch their show at The Espee in San Antonio on March 19, 2025. This concert was part of their Spring 2025 US Tour, where they played their first two albums from start to finish.

The night kicked off with their second album, “Hallowed Ground.” The mix of country, gospel, and blues in tracks like “Sweet Misery Blues” and “Country Death Song” really showcased their musical range. Their stage energy and unique sound had everyone dancing and singing along.

After a quick break, they launched into their debut album, starting with “Blister in the Sun.” The raw, punk-infused acoustics of “Kiss Off,” “Add It Up,” and “Gone Daddy Gone” had the whole crowd belting out the lyrics. The Espee’s intimate setting was perfect for their acoustic-punk vibe, making the whole experience feel really immersive.

Even though they focused on the first two albums, the encore was still amazing. Ending with “American Music” was as powerful as ever. While I spent the end of the night in the merch line, the whole evening was just fantastic.

In short, this concert showed why Violent Femmes remain so beloved and talented. If you get the chance to see them on this tour, don’t miss it – it’s an experience you won’t forget!
