Pensacon welcomes legendary actor Ron Perlman for 2024 convention

Pensacon, the Gulf Coast’s premier fan event, is thrilled to announce the addition of legendary actor Ron Perlman to top the bill for our 2024 convention, set for Feb. 23-25, 2024, in downtown Pensacola.

A Golden Globe Award winner for his leading role in the beloved TV series “Beauty and the Beast” (1987-1990), Perlman first came to audiences’ attention in 1981 with a role in the film “Quest For Fire.” Over a more than 40 year career since, Perlman has appeared in literally hundreds of TV shows and films and as lent his voice to countess animated productions and video games.

In addition to “Beauty and the Beast,” Perlman is perhaps best known for his starring role as Clay Morrow, the president of the titular notorious motorcycle gang in the hit series “Sons of Anarchy,” as well as multiple collaborations with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, most notably as the title character in the revered comic-book adaptions “Hellboy” and “Hellboy II: The Golden Army.” Perlman also worked with del Toro in “Cronos,” “Blade II,” “Pacific Rim,” Best Picture Oscar nominee “Nightmare Alley” and Best Animated Feature Oscar winner “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.”

Among Perlman’s other noteworthy live action appearances are key roles in such films as “Drive,” “Alien Resurrection,” Best Picture nominee “Don’t Look Up,” “The Name of the Rose” and “The City of Lost Children,” and he provided the voice of Optimus Primal in last year’s hit film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.”

In animation, some of Perlman’s best-known roles include the iconic villain Slade in “Teen Titans,” Clayface in “Batman: The Animated Series,” Orion in “Justice League,” and parts in “Danny Phantom,” “Adventure Time,” “Hey Arnold!,” “Afro Samurai and many, many more. Noyable video game appearances include playing Terrence Hood in “Halo 2” and “Halo 3,” the introductory narration in the “Fallout” series of games, and lending his likeness and voice to the lead playable character in the Zombies mode of “Call of Duty: Black Ops III.”

Along with Perlman, guests slated to appear at Pensacon 2024 include Academy Award and Emmy Award winning actor Louis Gossett Jr. (“An Officer and a Gentleman,” “Roots”); Mark Sheppard, known for his roles in “Supernatural,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Firefly,” “Doom Patrol” and “Leverage”; comedy icon Vicki Lawrence of “The Carol Burnett Show” and “Mama’s Family”; television legend Morgan Fairchild (“Friends,” “Falcon Crest”); stand-up comics and film stars Faizon Love (“Elf”) and Pauly Shore (“Encino Man”); Hollywood royalty Clint Howard (“The Waterboy,” “Apollo 13,” “Gentle Ben,” “Star Trek”); legendary director Joe Dante (“Gremlins,” “Innerspace”);  “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” stars Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters; “The Boys” stars Jessie T. Usher ad Laz Alonso; “American Dad!” voice actors Rachel MacFarlane and Jeff Fischer; “Rocky Horror Picture Show” stars Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn and Nell Campbell; voice actress Christina Vee (“Miraculous,” “Genshin Impact”); WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Mick Foley; and “The Walking Dead” stars Chandler Riggs and Seth Gilliam, among dozens of others.

The 2024 event will also feature reunions of the voice actors behind the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” animated series (Rob Paulsen, Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman and Barry Gordon); the cast of the fan-favorite anime “Death Note” (Brad Swaile, Bryan Drummond, Alessandro Juliani and Shannon Chan-Kent); and a boatload of on-screen and voice actors seen and/or heard in the “Star Wars” universe, including Cree Summer, TC Carson, Mat Lucas, Meredith Salenger, Chris Bartlett, Silas Cason, Michael Carter and more.

Pensacon is the Gulf Coast’s premier fan event, bringing three days of family friendly fun to downtown Pensacola, Feb. 23-25, 2024. Fans of all varieties of pop culture will enjoy a full weekend of excitement, meeting their favorite actors, artists, authors and other celebrities as well as enjoying live entertainment, cosplay and costume contests, intriguing panels, gaming, a film festival, unique shopping opportunities and much more.
