2013 Pensacola Beach Songwriter’s Festival

Pensacola Beach to showcase some of the World’s Best Songwriters 2013 on October 1st – 6th  

Each October, Pensacola Beach plays host to some of the World’s most talented songwriters – creating a musical and creative atmosphere unlike any other. This year is no different, as over 100 songwriters are scheduled to participate in the 2013 Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival.

Talented songwriters that have written with and for the likes of Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Phillip Phillips, Stevie Nicks, John Waite, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Jimmy Buffet, Ray Charles and more will be performing, storytelling, and giving festival goers a firsthand account of what it takes to ‘make it” in today’s music industry.

In addition to performances scheduled throughout the week, festival goers will have opportunities to meet-and-greet, participate in workshops, attend smaller intimate “listening room” performances, and rub shoulders with some of the world’s most influential musical talents.

Although most of the venues are free to festival goers, a few scheduled events require a cover charge, mainly the “listening room” performances. New this year, a week-long “all access pass” for all listening room venues is available for $50.

Sure to be a hit are the Song Writers Showcase Sunset Cruises. Sailing on the Portofino 1 on Friday and Saturday night, festival goers can enjoy the beauty of the sunset on the water while meeting some of the songwriters. Cruise tickets are $35 a person, $60 a couple.

In conjunction with the festival, a special edition of WSRE’s Studio Amped will be recorded live on Tuesday October 1st. This PBS show is recorded at the Jean and Paul Amos Performance Studio on the campus of Pensacola State College. Admission is free and the public is invited to be part of the studio audience. Doors open at 6:00PM, concert starts at 7:00PM.
